Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No of course not, it’s just a time travel ship. Isn’t it obvious? First airing on January 21, 2016, DC Legends of Tomorrow has since then sparked a new beginning into the hero era. So, if you love superheroes and better yet, ultimate underdogs, stick around because you are in for one heck of a ride.
Legends of Tomorrow takes place in 2016, where one suspicious time traveling master named Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvil), travels back through time from 2166 and seeks the help of eight extraordinary heroes and villains who would be willing to take the risk of time traveling, and change the past to prevent a world ending future from an immortal Egyptian named Vandal Savage (Casper Crump). The team includes a very intelligent scientist named Martin Steins (Victor Garber) and a high school dropout mechanic named Jefferson Jackson (Franz Drameh), who were both affected by a particle accelerator and in order to survive they needed to combine as one every so often to become firestorm.
The third member included another scientist named Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) also known as The Atom, who with his incredible intelligence, managed to make his own super suit to avenge the life of his fallen wife. The final members included a formal member of the league of assassins named Sarah Lance (Caity Lotz), also known as The White Canary, two former criminals who attained special weapons named Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell), known as Heat Wave, and Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller), known as Captain Cold. The last two are also former Egyptians named Kendra Saunders (Ciara Renee) and Carter Hall (Falk Hentschel), or Hawk-girl and Hawk-man.
Kendra and Carter are also immortal and have the ability to fly with wings after they were attacked by a meteorite. They knew Savage since the beginning, because after all, it was both these characters who provoked Savage’s fury through Kendra and Carter’s love interests.
From the very beginning, Legends of Tomorrow has risen statistically with a 1.2 rating, topping ABC and NBC in the 8 PM hour and drawing nearly 3.14 million total viewers. On the negative side, the show is very widely stretched with too many storylines to keep track of. The show could definitely try to slow down on the storylines and focus on one thing, other wise you would get lost and confused and have you thinking, “Who is this?” On the bright side, the acting couldn’t be more perfect and the actors couldn’t be more fitting of the characters they play. The action is mind blowing and the special affects will make you feel as if you’re in the show it self, experiencing every heartbreak, battle, and relationships. You are not just watching legends, you are experiencing like one.
Critics say the production values are spectacular and wildly electric; it isn’t just any logical and physiological TV show, this is a time traveling group ready to kick butt and take names. The action is nicely balanced with action and humor. Actors who have been seen in other TV shows, such as “Arrow” and “The Flash,” are developed well from the very beginning and you see them in a different way that you would have never been able to see from their original character debuts in other TV shows. Many think the show would normally lead to a whole lot of nothing, but it is a show with enormous intensity and big story lines. So sit back, relax, because it is not too late to catch up on Legends of Tomorrow, which is still on its first season and leading to its 9th episode on Thursday, March 31, 2016. If two scientists, two immortals, two criminals, two outcasts, and one time traveler doesn’t catch your interest, then I don’t know what will.
